I hate being compared, stereotyped, and judged.
In college grading system, actual grades are bracketed into its simplified equivalent; For example, 1.00 or A+ would be regarded as excellent; grades ranging from 95-100 are expected to fall under these categories, the list will go on until the lowest possible grade one could ever get.
I wonder why universities and colleges prefer this kind of grading system. I mean why exactly? If the main reason is “to make the computations simpler and easier,” then I can say that they have truly achieved what they wanted. The only thing is, the real essence of the grade you’ve gained for that certain course would abruptly be bracketed and you’ll eventually identify what kind of student you are based on the people who got the same “grade” as you.
In short, you’ll be stereotyping yourself. Lol.
“Parehas lang kami ni ***, Parehas kaming bobo?”
“Yes! Kapantay ko lang si *** eh pinakamagaling sa ‘min yun eh”
Okay, just invented the phrases above and in real life, phrases heard from students can actually be less harsh or worse.
Why am I actually spending my time on this topic?
I think that’s because people get 94.43 for 1.25 while those who get 94.7 get flat 1.00. Totally not cool. And I think, I am also wasting my time typing these words because I hate the fact that people keep on comparing themselves to someone who is TOTALLY different from them.
That’s the main thing I must talk about here actually. For I am annoyed whenever someone keeps on asking what my grades are in a very inappropriate or awkward or whatever way. Seriously? Well thank you for guarding me hahaha, I feel secured. But then, is it really necessary for you to know my grade? Why not mind and dwell on your own shit? That would probably be more fun.
Weigh your capacity before you talk or even react.
It’s such that people need to know when to stop. But then people are people. Well at least for me, I might just prolong my temper and laugh at my “guards” whenever they ask unnecessary questions like that OR maybe just answer them directly for them to be happy. HA HA HA!
